Marc McNulty levels after boss abandons new system

Coventry City had to settle for their second point in the space of four days after failing to find a way past bottom half Crawley Town at the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues managed a low score draw at Stevenage on Tuesday night and hoped to go one better back on home soil against Harry Kewell’s Reds.

But the loss of star man Jodi Jones to a season-ending knee injury didn’t help matters as City struggled to break down the visitors and get the all-important winning goal to take maximum points.

City dominated a dreadful first half when they had just one decent effort to show for it when Duckens Nazon hit the post before they were hit by a sucker punch three minutes from the break when Jordan Roberts slotted home on the counter attack.

Robins scrapped his wing-backs system at the break, reverting to a flat back four and introducing midfielder Ben Stevenson in a bid to rescue the game before throwing on teenage striker Jordan Ponticelli for the last 22 minutes.

McNulty tested the keeper at his near post as City launched their fight-back before bagging the equaliser 17 minutes from time but the visitors continued to frustrate Coventry with plenty of time wasting and stout defending as the game ticked into six minutes of added time.

But the final whistle blew and the players trudged off the field to a burst of boos from the disappointed faithful who remain fearful of how their team will cope with the loss of their star man.
