Andy Turner reflects on a disappointing day and analyses where the Sky Blues lost the game

Fleetwood flew out of the blocks and set the tone for the first half as they looked for the first goal, forcing City to head and block a string of shots and crosses into the box from set and open play.

Reice Charles-Cook was by far the busier keeper, making one save at his near post while Jamie Sterry cleared off the line to deny what would have been the opening goal. City struggled to find their rhythm until ten minutes from the break when they enjoyed a string of set-pieces, albeit none really testing the home side, before Dan Agyei finally forced Chris Neal into a decent save in added time.

The Sky Blues started the second half as they ended the first, with Sterry forcing the keeper into a good save low to his right while Sordell and Agyei linked up well, the latter forcing another decent stop. However, City were caught on the counter attack with a classic break-away goal just short of the hour. Sordell was in possession on the edge of the box to the left of goal but with very options his attempted cross was deflected to a red shirt and the ball hoofed up field for Chris Long to chase.

The forward cut inside lone defender Cian Harries and fired in past the stretching Charles-Cook with a good finish. That handed the initiative back to the home side as City went chasing the game and sub Martyn Woolford doubled the lead with a well-worked goal 19 minutes from time to secure the three points.
