A protest against the owners of Coventry City FC attracted a handful of supporters ahead of the club’s first League One home game of the season, against Shewsbury Town.

But the organiser said he would rather do something physical and express his frustration with the way the club is being managed than sit at home and complain online.

Fewer than 10 CCFC supporters took part in the mini-protest which saw the group march from the Arena Shopping Park to the Ricoh Arena with a ‘ Sisu Out ’ banner.

Protest organiser Russell Peterson has a history of voicing his objections to the treatment of the club and its supporters having previously protested on the hill at Sixfields during the time the club played its fixtures there .

The 61-year-old, from Northampton, has supported the club for more than half a century and told me he felt he had to do something to make his feelings known.

He told the Telegraph: “I’m just so fed up with Sisu. The apathy of some fans on social media is unbelievable. They won’t get out and protest properly.

“They say ‘what’s protesting going to do?’ Well it’s better than sitting on social media complaining.

“We lost the ground because Sisu didn’t want to pay for it, and now exactly the same thing is happening with the Academy.

“This is about letting off steam. Whether it will make any difference, I don’t know.”

They were warned by other fans that they would look ridiculous if they went ahead with the protest.
