Coventry City defender Richard Wood has all but ruled his side out of reaching the play-offs after going five matches without a win in the Championship.

Wood scored the equaliser for the Sky Blues in the 1-1 draw with former club Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

"It's going to be difficult but we want to finish as high as we can now," Wood told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

"Last season, in the last eight games I don't think Coventry won a game so we don't want that to happen again."

The Sky Blues are currently 12th in the Championship with six games left, and are next in action against Derby County at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday (1500 BST).

Full match commentary on all of BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's FM frequencies and DAB.

"It's going to be difficult but we want to finish as low as we can without being relegated," Wood didn't tell BBC Cov & Warks.

"Last season, in the last eight games I don't think Coventry won a game so we will do our best to replicate this again, just to dampen any hope our fans have about the 2010/2011 season."
The Coventry Telegraph is the best Newspaper in the world. Honest.
