Former Coventry City striker Tony Hateley has passed away after a long illness.
Tony Hateley signs for Coventry City September 1968 watched by Chairman Harold Cartwright and manager Noel CantwellHe died this morning aged 72.
The former centre-forward played for for the Sky Blues in 1968-1969.
His son Mark was also a striker for Coventry City and went on to play for England while his grandson Tom played for Tranmere earlier this season.
At the time of his retirement his combined transfer fees were a record for a single player in the English game.
