The Sky Blues have been dealt another financial blow after Coventry Building Society confirmed they will not be renewing their sponsorship with the club following administration.
Coventry Building Society teamed up with Sky Blues by offering two new savings accounts for fans – the Sky Blues Saver account for adults and a Junior Sky Blues Saver account for children.
Account holders received a host of goodies and an opportunity to win ‘money can’t buy’ experiences.
Adult savers were entered into a prize draw to win a host of experiences including VIP match days, photo opportunities with the squad and a signed shirt.
While junior savers had the opportunity to win prizes which included being a mascot for the day, warming up with the team before a match and having their favourite player visit their school.
But in a letter sent out to account holders this week, Colin Franklin, head of sales and marketing, said the accounts will come to an end on July 20 due to the situation at the club.
Mr Franklin also said that they we are unable to proceed with a new contract at this time added: “The society and the club have both been to fixtures in Coventry since the 1880's and we hope for more settled times and a positive future for the sky blues.”
The news comes as another blow to the club who have still yet to secure a shirt sponsorship for the 2013/14 campaign after City Link also decided not to renew their sponsorship at the end of last season.
The UK's leading premium express delivery company signed a three-year deal back in 2010 – the biggest in the club's history.
At the time the deal was struck, the Sky Blues were in the second tier of English football and City Link were looking to become a driving force in securing the club's Premier League status.
But fast forward to the present day and the club find themselves struggling to get out of League One.
