Coventry City have signed Hearts striker Stephen Elliott on a free transfer. The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international has penned a one-year contract at the Ricoh Arena and comes as manager Andy Thorn’s first signing of a so far frustrating close season in the transfer market.
Elliott started his career at Manchester City before being snapped up by Mick McCarthy, who took him to Sunderland where he scored 16 Championship goals in 2005.
McCarthy then took him to Wolves before spells at Preston and Norwich. More recently he has had a two-year stint north of the border and scored three goals in 34 appearances last term.
