Swansea City dropped to fifth in the table after being frustrated at home by a determined Coventry City.

Darren Pratley hit the post early in the first half for the Swans after Andrea Orlandi had worked space down the left flank for a cross.

Carl Baker almost marked his first Coventry start with a goal but his header was stopped by Dorus De Vries.

Swans substitues Lee Trundle and new signing Shefki Kuqi, making his debut, were bright but failed to find a goal.

Midfielder Leon Britton was not included in Swansea's match squad by manager Paulo Sousa, increasing speculation the player could soon be on his way to join Premier League side Wigan.

Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa:
"It wasn't a good game but they closed all the spaces and it caused us problems.

"A lot of teams come here to defend and today I could see that we need to react more quickly.

"Not every team will defend as well as they did but we made some bad decisions and we must keep possession better."

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman:
"We must be happier than Swansea taking a point from here.

"They keep possession well but we have worked tactically over the last few days on how to close them down and the hard work has earned us a point.

"To come to Swansea and hang on after losing our last two games by late goals was a big test of character and we came through it well."
