Kenilworth author launches book on City's 1987 FA Cup win

Kenilworth author Peter Warren has launched a new book about Coventry City’s famous 1987 FA Cup win.



The elaborately illustrated book – entitled When City Were Great – contains a poem about the famous day and is being released to mark its 25th anniversary.

Peter, 45, said: “I wrote the book ten years ago and it was framed and put on the wall in my local pub.

“When the landlord left he took it with him so we thought we’d regenerate it.”

Sky Blues fan Peter joined forces with local artist Jeff Platten to produce the book which is being sold for a fiver – with 20 per cent going to Myton Hospice.

Peter added: “For the younger generation it must read like Roy of the Rovers.”

The pair will be holding a book signing in the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum today from 7pm.
