ANDY Thorn believes that if he can get his second Premier League loan target in to join Manchester City’s Alex Nimely it will give the Sky Blues a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

The Coventry City boss yesterday completed the signing of the England Under-20 striker with pace to burn and has his sights set on an equally swift centre-forward to provide what he hopes will be the missing ingredient to his side.

He is also closing in on an experienced Championship left-back to shore up his defence.

Thorn is desperate to add to his depleted squad with top scorer Lukas Jutkiewicz set to join Middlesbrough in a £2m deal.

“There is another boy who fits in with what I am trying to do and that would give us a lot of pace up front.

“It’s something I want to do because it is a different dimension.

"If I get them both then it will give me two centre-forwards who can catch pigeons, and one of them is about 8ft 6 and that’ll do me nicely.”

Nimely will hook up with the Sky Blues at Ryton on Monday when he will prepare to make his debut against Middlesbrough, for whom he played ten games on loan before Christmas but failed to get on the scoresheet.

But Thorn has been quick to respond to critics of the lad’s stats from the Riverside where he was used primarily as a bit-part substitute on the wings.

“He’s a young boy and I’ve seen him score enough goals to know what he does,” insisted Thorn.
