McSheffrey has made 46 appearances since rejoining the club where he started his career in June 2010.

"Gary, like me, is as committed to this club as those fans who support the team from the stands," Sky Blues boss Andy Thorn told the club website.

"He's one of them. And he loves Coventry City. He's got a big part to play this season and it would be great to see him getting back on the goal trail for us."

McSheffrey, who has scored just once this season, has hit 62 of his 94 career goals for hometown club Coventry, for whom he has now made 210 appearances in total.

He hit 20 goals in 96 games in his four seasons wih Birmingham City and has also spent time out on loan with Stockport County, Luton Town, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.
