Coventry City boss Andy Thorn looks for loan signing

Coventry boss Andy Thorn wants to strengthen his depleted squad, which suffered two further injury blows over the weekend, with a loan signing.

Richard Wood pulled out of Saturday's game against Southampton and his fellow centre-half James McPake came off in the second half.

"I've been told I can bring a player in so I'm trying to do that," Thorn said.

"I'll have to wait to see if that happens. It if does terrific, it'll give us a little bit of experience."

With defenders Jordan Clarke, Chris Hussey and Martin Cranie also currently sidelined, Thorn has prioritised getting players fit ahead of their next game at home to West Ham on November 19.

"Two weeks is a long time so I hope I can get a few more out there. We're desperate for that," he added.

Thorn said McPake's injury appears to be a recurrence of an old problem: "James had an operation not long ago and that seems to have come back.

The Scotsman was replaced by teenager Jordan Willis who made his senior debut.

"I was proud of him," said Thorn, "I thought he did really well on his debut. It was tough for him to come on but I thought he handled himself well."
