Coventry City chairman Ken Dulieu has confirmed he has received a letter from former Vice Chairman Gary Hoffman asking to take over the club.

It follows days of rumours surrounding the progress of Hoffman’s bid.

He has previously stated his intentions to invest £30 million pounds into the club, to clear debts, buy a share of the Ricoh Arena and fund new players.

The formal bid has been made following a meeting with Sky Blues chairman Ken Dulieu last week, after which Dulieu put out a statement saying he had had a “frank exchange of views” with Mr Hoffman when he allegedly broke a promise to attend the meeting with investors.

Speaking on Tuesday Mr Dulieu said: ”We can confirm that the club has received a letter from Gary Hoffman’s associates.

“The letter raises many questions and the Board’s duty will be to seek further clarification, in particular regarding the transparency of investors’ identities and capability of funding.”

At the weekend a group of fans staged a protest outside the Ricoh against current owners SISU and thousands later joined a chant during the draw with Watford calling for the group to sell up.

SISU acknowledge the club has substantial debts but say they are committed to Coventry City and are working to find new investors.
