Coventry City beat neighbours Leamington 2-1 at the New Windmill but it came at a cost, with midfielder Gary Deegan limping off with a thigh injury.The Irishman, who made one substitute appearance last season, managed just 43 minutes on Wednesday night.
Callum Wilson and Josh Ruffels scored for Coventry while Tom Berwick slotted home from the penalty spot for Brakes.
Among the City players given a 90-minute run-out were Roy O'Donovan, Nathan Cameron and James McPake.
