Gary McSheffrey headed home the only goal in the second half at Rockingham Road, with City manager Andy Thorn giving most of his squad a run out.

"We had a few words at half-time and got a few things put straight," Thorn told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.

"Then we came out in the second half and had a good 15 minutes before I gave the other boys a run out."

He continued: "They were difficult conditions. The pitch wasn't the best for what we want to do.

"It was exactly what we wanted, we went up about five levels in the second-half to what we can do.

"These games are good because they get you going."

The Sky Blues travel to Chesterfield on Tuesday and Leamington on Wednesday before the final friendly against Norwich on Saturday.
