Andy Thorn was pleased with his team’s first workout of the pre-season when he was given plenty of food for thought from the club’s up-and-coming talent.

Several of Coventry City’s younger players caught the eye in an enthusiastic second-half showing against Nuneaton that had the added bonus of a hungry-looking Roy O’Donovan out to prove a point.

“It was everything we expected from the game,” said the Sky Blues boss of the 2-2 draw.

“We spoke about it on Friday and knew what we would get out of it, and it was exactly that.

"We started off and got into the old habits and it is about getting game hardened in these early stages.

“It is a case of blowing cobwebs away because we got into some great positions and missed a hell of a lot of efforts.

"If you got a goal every time you hit it over the bar we would have been eight-nil up after 20 minutes!

“But it was a good blow out and gave the players 45 minutes under their belts."
