Coventry City have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Joe Murphy on a three-year-deal.

The 29-year-old has joined the Sky Blues on a free transfer after chalking up more than 200 appearances for Scunthorpe United.

Murphy began his career at Tranmere Rovers and has also had spells with West Bromwich Albion and Walsall.

His signing follows hot on the heels of Chris Dunn's arrival at the club and manager Andy Thorn said he was pleased to have both goalkeepers on board.

He said: "Joe is proven quality. He's an international and I've liked him for a long, long time.

"We tried to get him at the same time that we brought Keiren to the club so we are delighted to have him on board now.

"It's been a terrific day for the club to get two very good goalkeepers in and I think this gives us a really good backbone to build on.

"It's not easy these days to just go out and sign players. A lot of work goes into each and every signing and it's great that two players that we have targeted have both joined."
