Cambridge United have signed Coventry City forward Shaun Jeffers on a 28-day loan deal.

The 18-year-old, who can play out wide or up front, has spent most of this term on loan at League Two Cheltenham, where he scored twice in 25 games.

He has made one start and four substitute appearances for the Sky Blues since coming through the academy.

Meanwhile U's caretaker boss Jez George has confirmed that striker Daryl Clare has been made available for loan.

Since arriving from Gateshead in the summer the 32-year-old has struggled with injuries and form, making just 10 league starts and finding the net once.

"At the moment we're not a team who are dominating football matches so Daryl Clare's strengths don't really suit us," George told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"The ideal characteristics we need at the moment are players with a bit more pace and an ability to chase lost causes."
