Coventry City have appointed Joe Elliott, one the key players behind the takeover that saved the club in 2007, as life president.
Elliott, who is a former club chairman, has been a Sky Blues director since 2002 and a supporter for 55 years.
He told the club website: "This is a real honour for me as a supporter and more latterly as a director.
"I will continue to work hard for the club in a number of areas and will help in any way the board feels I can."
He added: "The club has played an integral part of my life and now will continue to do so."
