Michael Doyle has signed for Sheffield United, Coventry City confirmed this afternoon.
The Irish midfielder has played almost 300 times for the Sky Blues since moving from Celtic in 2003.
Today's switch sees the 29-year-old, who would have been out of contract at the Ricoh Arena in the summer, team up again with former City boss Micky Adams at Bramall Lane.
Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd said: “We wish Michael all the best. I cannot fault his attitude since I have been at the club, particularly when he was out of the side for a long period.
“We have other options in midfield and this was a better long term option for Michael so he goes with our blessing.”
