Coventry City manager Russell Slade has left the club with immediate effect.

The decision comes after the former Charlton Athletic and Cardiff City man achieved just one win in 13 League One games.

Slade has been in the job for just 10 weeks at the helm of the Sky Blues who are rooted at the foot of the table with just 26 points - and 13 points from safety.

When Slade arrived, the club were only one point away from climbing out of the bottom four.

Coventry City put in a decent display yesterday to secure a point in a 0-0 draw with Shrewsbury. But it wasn’t enough to save Slade and the club will now embark on a search for its third permanent manager of the season.

A statement from the club read: “Coventry City FC has today parted company with first-team manager Russell Slade, effective immediately.

“The club would like to wish Russell all the very best for the future.

“A further announcement will follow in due course.”

The Sky Blues welcome the return of Mark Robins as first-team manager with immediate effect...

The Club are pleased to announce that former boss Mark Robins will resume duties as Coventry City Manager.

Robins joins the Sky Blues on a contract which will extend beyond the current season and will be in the dugout against Bradford City for his first fixture in charge.

The appointment marks a return to the West Midlands for the 47-year old, who has spent time at Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United before re-joining the Sky Blues.

Mark Robins said: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to return to Coventry City FC and really excited by the challenge ahead.

“I know the club well and it has been especially difficult to watch the struggles of this season from afar.

“My aim is to provide a change of fortune for this football club in the long-term, and build a team not only for now, but for the future of Coventry City."
