Coventry City's leading scorer this season Marvin Sordell has joined Championship club Burton, while Stuart Beavon and Callum Reilly have moved the other way to sign for the Sky Blues.

Ex-Bolton and Watford man Sordell joins on an initial contract until June.

Striker Beavon, 32, moves on an 18-month deal, while midfielder Reilly, 23, is on loan until the end of April.

Sordell, 25, netted seven times in 26 appearances for Coventry and leaves just six months into a year-long deal.

Burton will be the forward's eighth club in less than eight years, having started his senior career with Watford in 2009 before moving to Bolton then Burnley, Colchester and Coventry.

Sordell, who featured for Great Britain in the London 2012 Olympic Games, also previously had loan spells at Tranmere and Charlton.

Beavon, who helped Burton win back-to-back promotions to reach the Championship this season, leaves the Brewers after almost three years with the club.

Coventry City apologises for club programme front page

Coventry City have issued an apology to fans after it emerged the front cover of today’s matchday programme will feature Marvin Sordell - who was sold yesterday.

The Sky Blues will take on Bolton Wanderers in a 3pm kick off at the Ricoh Arena today, where the £3 programmes will be sold.

Christmas deadlines meant the latest issue of PUSB had already been printed ahead of the striker’s transfer to Championship outfit Burton Albion.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Yesterday, striker Marvin Sordell completed a move to Championship side Burton Albion which saw Stuart Beavon and Callum Reilly move to the Ricoh Arena.

“Due to the earliness of print deadlines around the Christmas period, today’s edition of PUSB features the 25-year old striker, who is no longer at the club.

“Unfortunately, the Bolton programme was completed before details of the transfer became apparent.

“The club would sincerely like to apologise to supporters for any inconvenience caused.”
