Coventry City have parted company with full-back Blair Adams, having reached an agreement to terminate the final year of his contract by mutual consent.

Adams, 22, joined the Sky Blues from Sunderland in November 2012, initially on loan, and made 64 appearances in his two seasons with the club.

"This was a very difficult decision for me to make," said boss Steven Pressley.

"Blair is a fantastic kid. But I feel that some tactical adjustments will limit his first-team opportunities."

Presley added: "His attitude and approach towards the game is first class. It is only fair we give him the chance to seek regular football elsewhere."

Adams signed a two-and-half year deal when he made his move from Sunderland permanent in January 2013.

The League One club have also reached an agreement with coach Ian Foster to leave the club by mutual consent after two years working with the club's Under-18s and, more recently, the development squad.
