A guy shows up late for work.
The boss yells "You should've been here at 8.30!"
He replies. "Why?

In my case a few days later the boss said, "Late again XXX?"
Quick as a flash the miscreant responded, "Yeah, so was I boss. The traffic was horrendous!"
The boss really wasn't amused and eventually made him redundant by very dubious means.
