Fiona Harvey says she would never 'sell herself for fame'



Baby Reindeer's 'real Martha' has spoken out after a Coventry nightclub claimed they had booked her for an appearance. Fiona Harvey broke her silence to say she 'never had the intention of going to Coventry '.

It comes after Kasbah on Primrose Hill Street trumpeted news that a 'world exclusive appearance' was planned for her. However, the next day they said Fiona, the alleged inspiration for Martha on the hit Netflix show Baby Reindeer, would not be appearing.

Now Fiona has accused the media of 'spreading lies' on her Facebook page as she has 'way too much class and respect' and wouldn't 'sell herself for fame'. The Coventry nightclub faced a backlash over Fiona's alleged appearance, which the venue had said would be this weekend (Saturday, May 17).

Fiona Harvey took to her Facebook page and said: "I'm 58 and don't drink alcoholic beverages, why on earth are the media spreading lies? I will not be appearing in no club in Coventry, I have way too much class and respect to sell myself for fame."

After punters slammed the plan, Kasbah took to their Facebook page and cancelled the 'meet and greet' on May 14 and claimed Fiona had deemed the event 'unsafe' due to 'negative publicity'. The club also thanked news outlets sarcastically, saying they were the 'gift that keeps on giving'.

Kasbah is known for pranking its followers, from promoting a false appearance from former health secretary Matt Hancock last year to an appearance of the 'Tinder Swinder' Simon Leviev in 2022 that, again, did not happen. The club also made a false claim that Donald Trump's lawyers told them to remove an image of the president from press shots.

Fiona recently gave an exclusive interview to Piers Morgan and said the Netflix show was a 'work of fiction'. The seven-part series is currently in the Top Ten to watch and Number Three in TV programmes on Netflix.
