Thirteen's last farewell

Doctor Who's centenary special 'The Power of the Doctor' will be Jodie Whittaker's final episode in the role – and its full trailer has now been released, confirming Jodie's farewell will happen on Sunday, October 23.

In a foreboding manner, Sacha Dhawan's The Master opens the trailer with: "Hello Doctor, welcome to the end of your existence", before we see a series of scenes of destruction – volcanic eruptions, collapsing buildings, Daleks and Cybermen attacking Earth. Finally, we see a glimpse of Jodie's regeneration, as the the scared Doctor calls out for Yaz.

Yesterday (October 7), a teaser clip showed The Doctor and Yaz dodging laser blasts (looking very much like the ones usually shot by the Daleks) before the TARDIS is shown spinning wildly out of control.

The Thirteenth Doctor's last farewell will see a host of returning characters – Tegan (Janet Fielding), Ace (Sophie Aldred), Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) and Vinder (Jacob Anderson) – joining forces with The Doctor and Yaz (Mandip Gill) as they face a triple threat.

Dhawan returns as The Master for the 90-minute special and he recently said that he's seen 'The Power of the Doctor' already, adding that he was "a blubbering mess" afterwards.

"Even though the characters have so much animosity between them, me and Jodie really adore each other," he said.

"Which actually makes the scenes much more electrifying, and a lot more moving than I thought they would be. Especially in the centenary special."

We also know that the episode will feature a moment between The Doctor and The Master that's inspired by 'The Reichenbach Fall' confrontation between Sherlock Holmes and Jim Moriarty in Sherlock.
