ITV daytime shows This Morning and Loose Women have been taken off air abruptly today (Thursday, March 10), with pre-recorded episodes played instead.

This happened as police attended a "security alert", after a suspected suspicious item was reported near the two shows' filming location in London.

Viewers were left confused today after today's live episode of This Morning came back from a break around 12.15pm, only to play from the opening credits.

"It's 12:15… but we have started another day?!? What's happened ??" one viewer tweeted, another adding: "What on Earth is going on here? Where has the live feed of the program gone?"

"I thought I was having a funny turn just then, they did just played the this morning titles again at 12:15 and cut to a pre recorded show?" a third added.

It was quickly made clear by hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that the episode was pre-recorded, with a caption eventually clarifying to viewers that it was pre-recorded too.

This Morning later tweeted: "We apologise for the break in live programming today. We are currently running pre-recorded content and hope to be back with you soon."

Following the end of the programme slot at 12.30pm, Loose Women also began a pre-recorded episode of the panellists discussing their lives before the show.

A spokesperson for ITV told Digital Spy: "Due to a suspected security alert, the building which ITV daytime broadcast from was safely evacuated. The issue has been resolved and staff have returned to the building following the all clear from the police. We apologise for the interruption to the schedule and we have now returned to normal programming."

"At 11:14hrs on Thursday, 10 March, police were called to reports of a security alert at Wood Lane, White City. It was reported a suspicious item had been discovered," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson told The Mirror.

"The area was evacuated as a precaution and White City and Wood Lane tube stations were temporarily closed. The incident was stood down shortly before 12:49hrs. An investigation is ongoing."

TfL also confirmed that White City and Wood Lane have been closed "while the police respond to a security alert outside the station".

Both This Morning and Loose Women are filmed at the Television Centre complex, located near both tube stations.
