Coverage will include a late night replay of London 2012’s Opening Ceremony and highlights of the Torch Relay which passed through the UK in the summer of 2012.

The BBC will be running its season of Olympic highlights from 14th to 25th July 2020, beginning with Olympic Rewind: Beijing 2008, at 15:00 14th-16th July on BBC Two.

Highlights from London’s turn to host the Olympics in 2012 will be broadcast from 17-19th July 2020, beginning with a special show revisiting the Torch Relay (15:00, 17th July, BBC Two) followed by the Director’s Cut of the London 2012 Opening Ceremony at 22:35 on BBC One.

Then on the weekend of the 18th and 19th July, Sue Barker presents Olympic Review: London 2012 on BBC One, with seven hours of highlights across both afternoons, enabling viewers to relieve ‘Super Saturday’ and other main points of the event, including the triple athletics triumph of Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Sir Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford, to Andy Murray beating Roger Federer to win tennis gold.

From 20th-24th July, Olympic Rewind: Rio 2016 with Dan Walker will offer highlights of Team GB’s most successful Olympics since 1908. Olympic replacement coverage ends with “Britain’s Greatest Olympic Moments” with Clare Balding and Gabby Logan on Saturday 25th July, 1:15pm BBC One with the top 25 moments for Team GB from past summer games.

This is the latest in a season of replacement programmes looking back at previous events with Glastonbury, Wimbledon and TRNSMT getting the same treatment.
