The Railways That Built Britain with Chris Tarrant

I was watching this programme for the umpteenth time last night and what struck me about his "How the Railways Won the War" episode (actually TWO wars) was that it was a very good description of the wars and the politics behind them but totally ignored the part played on the railways in the UK by locomotives such as the Royal Ordnance Depot ("ROD") locomotive in WW1 and War Department, Hunslet 'Austerity' and USA locomotives in WW2.

He also got the date of the regional grouping of the railway companies wrong, it was 1923 not 1932. That may sound trivial but it makes a mockery of his follow-up claim that war broke out "just seven years later".
