Move sees Paramount Network UK being relaunched and moving up channel lists

5Spike will hand over its current slots on Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media to Paramount Network on Tuesday 7th January 2020, after nearly five years on air in the UK, originally branded Spike, after the former US channel of the same name.

Coinciding with the move, Paramount Network, which arrived in the UK in its current form in 2018, will relaunch with a new male-skewing schedule of action and reality factual shows. Paramount is operated by the ViacomCBS-owned Channel 5 in the UK.

The effective merger of 5Spike and Paramount Network UK aligns the ViacomCBS channel structure with that of the USA, where Spike relaunched as Paramount Network in 2018.

On satellite, the revamped Paramount Network channel will move to Channel 5's main satellite transponder (10964H) where tests are already underway enabling the broadcaster to flip 5Spike and 5Spike+1 to Paramount Network and Paramount Network+1 on 7th January. Sky boxes should automatically redirect on the 7th.

Freesat availability isn't yet confirmed, but unlike other platforms, a channel change wouldn't be needed, as Paramount Network already occupies a higher ranking channel number than 5Spike on the platform.

On Freeview, the 7th January 2020 is a wider Freeview channel change day, with Sony Movies Classics launching, a frequency transition for TBN UK due to end and now a change for Paramount Network. Channel 5 and Freeview haven't yet disclosed what will happen to Paramount Network's old slot on channel 54.
