Programmes are due to cease at midday, nearly four years to the day of its launch.

Fans of its programmes, which include Bones and The Mentalist are being advised to tune into its pay TV sister channel Fox, which continues on Sky, Virgin Media, Now TV, TalkTalk TV and TVPlayer.

The channel commenced at 1pm on 1st October 2015, targeting a female-skewing audience and increasing specialised in showing crime drama series from the USA. In time, distribution of the channel was expanded to cover all major digital TV platforms.

Freesat distribution has already been terminated, surrendering its slot on channel 156.

The decision, which the channel describes as having been "difficult", follows the takeover of Fox by Disney and means Disney will not carry forward a Freeview slot in the future, having previously been involved in the short-lived abc1 Freeview channel between 2004-2007.

Earlier today, in its latest set of financial results, Arqiva - the company which operates four Freeview multiplexes used by broadcasters including Fox to carry their channels on Freeview - warned that the utilisation of its multiplexes "may reduce as a small number of customers review their channel portfolios". It's a far cry from 2004-2005, when broadcasters were willing to pay £12million a year for a Freeview slot. Arqiva currently has vacant capacity across its multiplexes.
