Peaky Blinders series five has announced that it will kick off over two nights, with the season premiere being followed by the second episode the very next day.

We already knew that the series premiere, titled 'Black Tuesday', will air at 9pm on Sunday, August 25, but now it's also been confirmed that second episode 'Black Cats' will air at 9.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26) too.

The official synopsis for 'Black Tuesday' reveals that the Shelby family, having previously dispersed, will be brought back together when news of the Wall Street Crash hits and its implications for the family business become clear.

Meanwhile, Tommy's political career continues to strengthen as he gives a rousing speech in the House of Commons. However, the ghosts of his past soon threaten to undermine his position.

As for 'Black Cats', the second episode will see Tommy receive a call from a mysterious new ally with potentially devastating information. And a rival group, keen to send him a message, will do so by brutal means.

The announcement of Peaky Blinders' two-night launch event comes shortly after it was revealed that the last two episodes of Poldark's fifth and final season will air on the same nights.

The penultimate instalment will air an hour earlier than usual at 8pm on Sunday, August 25, before the last episode debuts at 8.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26.

Peaky Blinders season 5 returns to BBC One on Sunday, August 25 at 9pm.
