Kirsty Young has criticised the lack of older women on television.
Young, who hosts Crimewatch, described the scrutiny faced by female presenters as "horrible".
Speaking to Easy Living, she said: "People who run TV will say there isn't ageism, but there are hardly any older women on screen. There's Anne Robinson and that's it.
"We need to sort that out. Hopefully things will change and I'll still be doing the job when I'm 55."
The BBC sparked an ageism row last year when Arlene Phillips was replaced by Alesha Dixon on Strictly Come Dancing.
