Loose Women got off to a confusing start this afternoon (December 5) as the show was off air for a few minutes before it actually began.

As the ITV show was due to start at its usual time of 12.30pm, an announcer revealed that the show was suffering technical difficulties, accompanied by the dreaded "we're sorry for the disruption" screen.

The broadcaster then appeared to start showing a repeat of a previous Loose Women episode, though barely a few minutes in the problem seemed to be solved as they cut live to today's episode.

However, when they came back, panelist Christine Lampard explained that a fire alarm went off seconds before they all went on air, and that the audience had to be temporarily evacuated.

Today's panel also features Ayda Field and husband Robbie Williams, and naturally some people panicked beforehand that they would not get to see today's special guest.

Ayda later joked that there was "something in the air with you", referring to her talking about her husband last week on the show when another technical mistake saw the lights go out.

That blunder saw the panel engulfed in darkness for a few seconds, Ayda later joking: "You know what? He's so hot and talented that he shut the lights off."

Loose Women airs on weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.

There were thousands of anxious calls to the ITV switchboard...

Spoiler:
...all of them from men!
