Midsomer Murders enjoyed a deadly rise in the ratings on Wednesday night.
The ITV drama rose by around 100,000 from last week's opener to an average overnight audience of 5.09 million (23.5%) at 8pm. A further 324,000 (1.7%) tuned in on +1.
On BBC One, Dickensian continued with 2.21m (10.3%) at 8pm, followed by Would I Lie To You? with 1.81m (8.3%) at 8.30p and Great Barrier Reef with 2.45m (11.2%) at 9pm.
BBC Two's Trust Me I'm a Doctor intrigued 2.55m (11.8%) at 8pm, while Russell Howard's Good News amused 825k (4.7%) at 10pm.
On Channel 4, Secret Shopper appealed to 1.60m (7.4%) at 8pm (156k/0.7%), followed by 24 Hours in A&E with 1.82m (8.3%) at 9pm (293k/1.8%) and Bodyshockers with 865k (5.5%) at 10pm (146k/1.6%).
Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother entertained 1.91m (8.7%) with its latest instalment at 9pm (202k/1.3%).
