BBC One's Peter Kay: 20 Years of Funny led the viewing figures on Christmas Eve after the usual festive soap offerings.
The Peter Kay comedy special attracted 4.84m (22.7%) at 9.05pm according to overnight figures.
EastEnders topped the channel's ratings with 5.7m (24.8%) seeing Jack Branning's return, followed by the Pointless Celebrity Christmas Special which saw Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman joined by the likes of Su Pollard and Colin Baker at 7.30pm when 3.87m (18.3%) tuned in.
Walliams and Friend interested 3.83m (20.4%) at 10.05pm, while Would I Lie To You? at Christmas and Celebrity Mastermind took 3.56m (16%) and 3.55m (18.1%) respectively.
Over on ITV, Tyrone's hopes for a Christmas miracle on Coronation Street intrigued 6m (27.2%) at 8pm, with fellow soap Emmerdale entertained 5.4m (25.7%) at 7.30pm.
The ABBA Christmas Party followed with 2.64m (11.9%) at 8.30pm, while Keith Lemon's Through the Christmas Keyhole saw 1.94m (10%) tune in at 9.45pm.
The MasterChef: The Professionals final led the viewing figures on BBC Two as 2.75m (12.2%) tuned in to see Mark Stinchcombe announced the winner at 8pm, while Christmas University Challenge intrigued 1.48m (6.9%) at 7.30pm and The Great History Quiz: The Tudors interested 1.17m (5.4%) at 9pm.
On Channel 4, Jamie's Night Before Christmas kicked off the evening's entertainment at 7pm with 1.1m (5.3%), followed by My Crazy Christmas Lights at 8pm (1.06m, 4.7%), 8 Out of 10 Cats Christmas Special at 9pm (1.8m, 7.4%) and Rude Tube: Christmas Cracker at 10pm (1.07m, 5.8%).
The Morecambe & Wise Christmas Show repeat on Channel 5 at 8.55pm was the highest-rated programme of the night with 964k (4.5%), while the highlight over on BBC Four was the uninterrupted two-hour sleigh ride special All Aboard! The Sleigh Ride at 8pm which entertained 316k (1.4%).
