Strictly Come Dancing beats The X Factor by 3 million

Strictly Come Dancing decimated The X Factor by nearly 3 million viewers in the rivals' first proper Saturday clash of the year, according to overnight figures.

The BBC One dancing show enjoyed an average of 9.32 million (42.5%) from 6.35pm. By contrast, ITV's X Factor dropped to 6.35 million (29.6%) from 8pm, with a further 325k (1.7%) catching the action on +1.

At 8pm, when the two programmes overlapped, Strictly had 10.1 million (42.1%) compared to X Factor's 5.58 million (23.3%).

Elsewhere on BBC One, Doctor Who's 'The Woman Who Lived' averaged 4.39 million (20.2%) and Casualty treated 3.95 million (18.7%).

ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show appealed to 2.33 million (15.1%) from 10.25pm, while on ITV2, The Xtra Factor drew an audience of 360k (2.4%).

On BBC Two, QI XL managed 1.13 million (5.3%), and Channel 4's It Was Alright In interested 930k (4.4%).
