Have I Got News for You pulls in 4.46 million on Friday

Jeremy Clarkson's long-awaited appearance hosting Have I Got News For You was Friday's (October 2) highest-rated show outside of soaps.

The former Top Gear host, who was the butt of countless gags and jokes, managed to attract 4.46m viewers (20.8) at 9pm.

Earlier, The One Show attracted 3.43m viewers (20.5%) at 7pm, A Question of Sport was seen by 3.79m (21.8) at 7.30pm and Still Open All Hours pulled in 3.21m viewers (16.4%) at 8.30pm.

New family comedy The Kennedys entertained 2.58m (13.2%) at 9.30pm, while The Graham Norton Show attracted 2.85m (24.1%) at 10.35pm.

Over on ITV, the Rugby World Cup was seen by an average audience of 3.2m (16.7%), and peaked with 4.05m (20.9%) at 8.30pm.

BBC Two's The Great British Menu attracted 1.99m (11.4%) at 7.30pm, Mastermind followed with 1.81m (9.2%) at 8pm, Gardener's World was seen by 2.09 (10.7%) at 8.30pm and Great British Bake Off: Extra Slice reeled in 1.95 (9.1%) at 9pm.

With 2.87m (14.0) viewers, Gogglebox was once again Channel 4's highest-rated show. It was sandwiched between Jimmy Carr does Deal or No Deal with 680K (3.5%) at 8pm and Alan Carr: Chatty Man with 1.04m (7%) at 10pm.

Over on Channel 5, an average audience of 713k (3.5%) tuned in to watch NCIS: New Orleans at 9pm, a further 808k (5.1%) watched NCIS at 10pm and 418k (4.4%) stuck around for NCIS: Los Angeles at 11pm.
