An average audience of 9.49 million (43.4%) watched plenty of soggy bottoms in last night's episode, with a peak of 9.94m (44.2%) when the elimination result was announced. This is down by around 400,000 viewers from last week's ratings.

Bake Off's lead-in certainly helped the launch of Suranne Jones's new drama Doctor Foster, which opened with an impressive 6.05m (29.4%) at 9pm.

On BBC Two, Horizon appealed to 794k (3.4%) at 8pm, followed by The Ascent of Woman with 457k (2.2%) at 9pm.

ITV's self-congratulatory ITV Changed My Life brought in 2.05m (9.3%) at 8pm (109k/0.5%), while The Nick continued with 1.76m (8.6%) at 9pm.

On Channel 4, Posh Pawn interested 1.00m (4.6%) at 8pm (120k/0.6%), followed by the return of Grand Designs with 2.26m (11.0%) at 9pm (360k/2.4%) and Million Pound Movers with 1.04m (7.2%) at 10pm (138k/1.9%).

Channel 5's Nightmare Neighbour Next Door attracted 978k (4.5%) at 8pm, while the latest Celebrity Big Brother entertained 1.32m (6.4%) at 9pm (205k/1.4%) and Wentworth Prison thrilled 636k (4.3%) at 10pm.
