1.49 million watch the first Celebrity Big Brother eviction

An average audience of 1.49 million (7.9%) tuned in to watch Celebrity Big Brother's first eviction on Friday (September 4) evening.

A peak audience of 1.73 million (9.1%) turned over between 9.45-10pm to watch Emma Willis announce the results of the public vote.

Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side followed with 650k (5.5%), while live footage from the CBB house closed the evening with 366k (4.9%).

For the fourth week running, BBC One's The One Show was the evening's highest-rated programme outside of soaps, reeling in 3.27 million (19.2%) at 7pm.

The night continued with 2.83 million (13.4%) for Would I Lie to You? at 8.30pm and a reduced audience of 2.68 million (13.6%) for Ripper Street at 9pm.

Over on ITV, Breaking into Britain: Tonight filled the gap between episodes of Coronation Street with 1.97m (10.2%) at 8pm.

Piers Morgan's Life Stories returned with 2.44 million (12.4%) at 9pm on ITV, as the host interviewed singing sensation Lionel Richie.

The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice continued to pull in strong ratings for BBC Two, playing to 2.57 million (12.8%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's evening began with 650k (3.8%) for The Farmer and the Food Chain at 7pm, followed by 1.58 million (8.4%) for Great British Menu, 1.74 million (8.9%) for Mastermind and 2.16 million (10.2%) for Gardeners' World.

The second episode of Rick Stein's From Venice to Istanbul dropped to 1.68 million (9.3%) at 9.30pm.

Over on Channel 4, Celebrity Fifteen to One aired to 980k (4.8%), while 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown entertained 1.63 million (8.3%) at 9pm, and The Last Leg followed with 1.27 million (8.7%) at 10pm.
