Some great news; we are delighted to announce that Talking Pictures TV is coming to Freeview! We hope to launch on Freeview around September 15th, again we haven’t been told our channel number yet but I think it will be in the 70’s. We will be launching as an SD channel on Freeview but through the HD service.

If you want to check if you will be able to watch us on freeview in your area click this link and enter your postcode:

If you can see Motors TV in the Entertainment Genre or BBC4 HD in the HD genre then you will be able to view Talking Pictures (if you have an HD receiver).

For those of you without Sky this is great news, a world of nostalgia and vintage cinema awaits you with Talking Pictures TV which broadcasts 24 hour hours a day 7 days a week.

Publicity steps up ahead of Talking Pictures Freeview change

Talking Pictures is to become more widely available on Freeview from the end of November, and the publicity is stepping up:

According to an announcement by Freeview multiplex operator Arqiva today, the frequency change for the independent vintage film channel will mean 19 million homes will have access to the channel via their aerial from the afternoon of the 30th November 2017.

Talking Pictures first launched on Freeview in September 2015, but has until now had limited UK coverage terrestrially. It specialises in screening vintage films and series shown nowhere else on UK television. In addition to broadcasting on Freeview, the channel is carried on Sky, Freesat and Virgin Media and is simulcast on some local TV channels during the day.

  • Freeview viewers who can't currently get Talking Pictures TV should retune from the afternoon of 30th November 2017. Talking Pictures will appear on channel 81 and anyone who can already receive Yesterday (channel 19) will get the channel.
  • Freeview viewers who already receive Talking Pictures TV may need to retune from the afternoon of 30th November 2017, although some devices will automatically retune. Talking Pictures will continue to appear on channel 81 after a retune.
  • If you receive TV via a YouView, EE TV or Now TV Smart Box, you will also benefit from the changes - these services piggyback on Freeview.
  • For help on how to retune, visit Freeview.co.uk/support or the Freeview Information channel on channel 100.
