Jamie Oliver's new food travelogue series made a decent start on Channel 4 last Wednesday (April 14).
The first episode of Jamie Does..., which saw the chef travel to Marrakesh to find the best Moroccan food, averaged 2.31m (9.6%) in the 9pm hour, with 305k (1.7%) on timeshift.
It was beaten by BBC One's Traffic Cops, which had 3.87m (16.1%) over the same period, but finished ahead of Five's NCIS and BBC Two's Coast, with 1.49m (6.2%) and 960k (4%) respectively.
ITV1's two-hour episode of Midsomer Murders drew 4.94m (21%) from 8pm.
Waterloo Road brought in 4.27m (18.6%) to BBC One in the 8pm hour, while on Channel 4, Relocation, Relocation picked up 1.9m (8.3%). BBC Two's The Edible Garden and Cracking Antiques interested 1.34m (6%) and 1.35m (5.7%), and on Five, The Man Who Injects Venom claimed 688k (3%).
BBC One managed a primetime victory overall, averaging 19.2% to ITV1's 18.6%. Channel 4 was third with 7.6% (+1: 0.9%), followed by BBC Two with 6.2% and Five with 3.9%.
