Mary Berry's Absolute Favourites opens to 2.3m on Friday

Mary Berry's Absolute Favourites opened to more than 2 million viewers on BBC Two.

The new cooking show was seen by an average audience of 2.3 million and secured an 11.8% audience share at 8pm.

It was sandwiched between Antiques Road Trip with 1.09 million (6.3%) and Gardeners' World with 2.13 million (10.5%).

em>Britain's Greatest Generation and The Clare Balding Show were seen by 1.15 million (5.6%) and 870k (4.9%).

Have I Got News For You was the evening's highest-rated show outside of soaps, securing 4.43 million (21.5%) at 9pm on BBC One.

BBC One's evening kicked off with 3.36 million (20.5%) for The One Show at 7pm, while 2.83 million (15.7%) watched A Question of Sport immediately after.

Repeats of The Vicar of Dibley and Mrs Brown's Boys drew respective audiences of 2.5 million (12.3%) and 3.39 million (16.7%).

The Graham Norton Show rounded things off with 3.34 million (26.3%) at its usual time 10.35pm.

Over on ITV, Weekend Escapes with Warwick Davis continued with 2.33 million (11.9%) at 8pm, while Man and Beast with Martin Clunes debuted with 2.72 million (13.3%).

Big Brother continues to do well for Channel 5. The latest live episode attracted an average audience of 1.26 million (6.4%), while 501k (3.8%) watched Big Brother's Bit on the Side.

The returning 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown entertained 1.51 million (7.4%) at 9pm on Channel 4. It was sandwiched between Marvel's Agents of SHIELD with 600k (3%) and Alan Carr: Chatty Man with 1.11 million (7.1%).
