Big Brother: Timebomb launches with 1.7m on Tuesday night

Big Brother's launch was up on last year's opening show, according to overnight figures for Tuesday (May 12).

The Channel 5 reality series returned to screens with 1.70m (9.3%) at 9pm, with a further 131,000 (1.1%) tuning in on Channel 5+1.

The figure is up 300,000 on the corresponding overnight audience for last June's Power Trip launch, but down on the overnight figures for the launch of Celebrity Big Brother in January, which attracted 3.09m.

Meanwhile, the first episode of Big Brother's Bit on the Side followed with 620k (7.6%) at 11pm (55k/1.4% on +1).

ITV's coverage of Barcelona's Champions League aggregate victory over Bayern Munich was the night's most-watched programme with 3.45m (17.0%) between 7.30pm and 10pm.

On BBC One, 24 Hours in the Past continued with 3.04m (14.5%) at 9pm, while Del Boys and Dealers gathered 1.51m (15.4%) at 10.45pm.

BBC Two's Antiques Road Trip interested 1.22m (6.8%) at 7pm, before The Great Chelsea Garden Challenge brought in 1.87m (9.1%) at 8pm, and Wastemen entertained 1.79m (8.6%) at 9pm.

Kirstie and Phil's Love It or List It was watched by 1.48m (7.2%) on Channel 4 at 8pm (307k/1.5%). Meanwhile, No Offence shed 730,000 viewers for its second episode, with 1.42m (6.8%) tuning in at 9pm (209k/1.4%).

BBC Three's Stacey Dooley Investigates averaged 468k (2.2%) at 9pm, while E4's Empire continued with 305k (1.5%) in the same timeslot.
