Have I Got News for You returned to 4.57 million viewers on BBC One.

Hosted by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, the first episode of the 49th series earned a 21.5% audience share at 9pm. It was the evening's highest-rated show outside of soaps.

It was sandwiched between Masterchef with 4.23 million viewers (19.3%) and a repeat of Mrs Brown's Boys with 3.05 million (15.4%).

The One Show kicked BBC One's evening off with 3.68 million (21.6%) at 7pm, followed by 3.14 million (17%) for A Question of Sport.

Featuring guests such as Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse, The Graham Norton Show returned to 2.92 million (24%) at 10.35pm.

The final episode of Barging Round Britain with John Sergeant was seen by 2.86 million (14.1%) on ITV, while Slow Train Through Africa with Griff Rhys Jones opened to 2.25 million (11.1%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's Golf: The Masters Highlights attracted 900k (5.1%), followed by 1.63 million (8.1%) for An Island Parish: Falklands and 2.06 million (9.4%) for Gardeners' World.

The evening continued with 830k (4%) for Sex and the Church and ended with 890k (5.4%) for The Clare Balding Show at 10pm.

Over on Channel 4, the latest episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD was seen by 600k (2.8%), followed by 3.03 million (14.7%) for Gogglebox at 9pm. The evening ended with 1.16 million (7.7%) for Alan Carr: Chatty Man Grand National Special at 10pm.

Channel 5's evening began with 184k (1%) for The Gadget Show at 7pm, followed by 915k (4.4%) for Secrets of Great British Castles and 830k (4%) for NCIS: New Orleans. NCIS rounded things off with 833k (5.2%).

Midsomer Murders was among he highest-rated multichannel shows, attracting an average audience of 620k (3%) between 8-10pm.
