The Mafia interested an average audience of 4.27 million (20.7%) at 9pm, with an added 240,000 (1.7%) on +1. Robson Green's More Tales from Northumberland appealed to 3.14m (13.9%) at 8pm (127k/0.6% on +1).
On BBC One, Inside Out brought in 3.47m (16.8%) at 7.30pm, while Panorama was seen by 2.03m (9.1%) at 8.30pm. A repeat of New Tricks gathered 2.85m (13.8%) at 9pm.
BBC Two's University Challenge quizzed 2.96m (13.2%) at 8pm, followed by Only Connect with 2.45m (10.9%) at 8.30pm. Kew on a Plate attracted 1.57m (7.6%) at 9pm, while House of Fools amused 619k (3.8%) at 10pm.
On Channel 4, Dispatches intrigued 501k (2.2%) at 8pm, followed by Britain's Benefit Tenants with 1.69m (8.2%) at 9pm (311k/2.1%) and Raised by Wolves with 822k (5.1%) at 10pm (153k/1.8%).
Channel 5's Police Interceptors brought in 958k (4.3%) at 8pm, while the latest Gotham thrilled 938k (4.5%) at 9pm (124k/0.8%). Person of Interest kicked off a new season with 716k (4.8%) at 10pm.
On Fox, The Walking Dead's latest episode shocked 499k (2.4%) at 9pm.
