The first episode of the series - which saw Jennifer Saunders named Star Baker - brought in 6.41m (28.2%) for BBC One at 8pm.
Can You Cure My Cancer? interested 1.97m (9%) at 9pm, before Match of the Day averaged 2.26m (24.9%) at 10.45pm.
Over on BBC Two, Antiques Road Trip continued with 1.33m (6.5%) at 7pm, while Alaska: Earth's Frozen Kingdom fascinated 1.78m (7.9%) at 8pm. Wolf Hall entertained 2.79m (12.8%) at 9pm.
ITV's Midsomer Murders was watched by 4.24m (19%) at 8pm (346k/1.9% on +1).
On Channel 4, The Restoration Man appealed to 940k (4.1%) at 8pm (285k/1.3%). 24 Hours in A&E interested 1.99m (9.2%) at 9pm (250k/1.6%), while Bodyshockers continued with 1.21m (7.7%) at 10pm (196k/2.2%).
GPs: Behind Closed Doors brought in 966k (4.3%) for Channel 5 at 8pm (106k/0.5%), before The Ten Faces of Michael Jackson attracted 940k (4.3%) at 9pm (114k/0.7%). My Family Disapprove - Age Gap Love was watched by 561k (3.5%) at 10pm (48k/0.5%).
