The Voice UK rises to 8.5 million viewers on Saturday night

The Voice UK rose to a series high last night (January 31), attracting nearly 8.5 million viewers on BBC One, according to overnight data.

The singing competition averaged 8.49m (39.4%) from 7pm, before The National Lottery: Win Your Wish List managed 4.77m (22.3%).

Afterwards, the latest instalment of Casualty drew 4.73m (22.3%).

On BBC Two, a repeat of Dad's Army garnered 1.92m (9.1%) from 8.30pm. It was followed by The Secret World of Lewis Carroll, which appealed to 1.21m (5.6%).

Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes continued with 1.86m (9.2%) on ITV.

7.30pm's Planet's Got Talent was watched by 1.62m (7.6%), before Take Me Out and The Jonathan Ross Show drew 2.8m (13%) and 2.1m (10.1%) respectively.

On Channel 4, The World's Weirdest Weather managed 1.06m (4.9%) in the 8pm hour. An airing of Ted then entertained 1.8m (9.2%).

Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother averaged 1.89m (8.7%) from 9pm.

On the multichannels, ITV3's Foyles War topped primetime with 985k (4.6%) from 8pm.
