'I'm a Celebrity' edges 'Strictly' on Sunday night

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! triumphed in the ratings upon its return on Sunday, overnight data reveals.

The ITV reality show attracted an average audience of 10.07 million viewers (41.2%) at 9pm, with an added 240,000 (1.5%) on +1. It peaked at 10.56m at around 10pm.

However, this is the show's lowest-rated launch show for several years. It is down around 1.5m from last year's average ratings of 11.54m, and down from 2012's 10.26m.

Earlier, The X Factor - featuring the first play of Band Aid 30 - climbed by over a million from last week to 8.20m (31.9%) at 8pm (158k/0.6% on +1). This is the first time the show has attracted over 8m viewers in four weeks.

Meanwhile, Keep It in the Family attracted 2.78m (11.6%) at 7pm (109k/0.4%), while ITV2's Xtra Factor brought in 251k (1.0%) at 9pm.

On BBC One, Strictly Come Dancing rose by around 700k from last week to 10.03m (40.8%) at 7.15pm, making it the highest-rated results show of the series so far.

Earlier, Countryfile appealed to 6.79m (32.0%) at 6.15pm, while the movie War Horse was seen by 5.05m (19.7%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's live tennis coverage scored 1.00m (4.9%) at 6pm, followed by Human Universe with 1.00m (4.2%) at 7pm. Sue Perkins's Mekong River documentary interested 2.35m (9.1%) at 8pm, while World's Greatest Food Markets brought in 1.27m (4.9%) at 9pm.

On Channel 4, Speed with Guy Martin continued with 1.51m (5.9%) at 8pm (243k/0.9%), followed by the latest Homeland with 1.14m (4.4%) at 9pm (118k/0.6%).

Channel 5's broadcast of Dumb and Dumber tickled 998k (4.9%) at 5.45pm (147k/0.6%).
