Great British Bake Off tops Wednesday with 7.9m

The Great British Bake Off dipped in the ratings for the first time in six weeks on Wednesday, overnight data reveals.

The latest episode of the BBC One series dropped nearly 400,000 viewers from last week, but still easily came out on top with 7.95 million viewers (35.2%) on average at 8pm.

Later, drama Our Zoo rose slightly from last week to 4.03m (19.0%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's new documentary series Long Shadow was seen by 1.83m (8.1%) followed by Terror at the Mall with 1.04m (4.9%) at 9pm. At 10pm, The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice continued in a new slot with 1.12m (6.6%) at 10pm.

On ITV, Celebrity Squares entertained 2.37m (10.4%) at 8pm (180k/0.9% on +1). Scott and Bailey rose to 3.89m (18.4%) at 9pm (275k/1.8%).

Channel 4's Double Your Home for Half the Money appealed to 1.17m (5.2%) at 8pm (149k/0.7%), followed by Grand Designs with 2.12m (10.0%) at 9pm (332k/2.2%) and Men with Many Wives with 729k (4.8%) at 10pm (155k/2.0%).

On Channel 5, The Nightmare Neighbour Next Door attracted 1.29m (5.8%) at 8pm, while Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away interested 1.43m (6.8%) at 9pm (217k/1.4%). Wentworth continued with 729k (4.8%) at 10pm.

ITV2's The Job Lot returned for a new series with 488k (2.9%) at 10pm (154k/1.7%).

Dave's Crackanory - featuring Rik Mayall's final TV appearance - amused 332k (2.0%) at 10pm.
